Electric Strike

An electric strike is a type of electronic lock in which the strike (the sturdy piece of metal which actually holds a door locked) is mechanically moved in and out of position by electronic means. Much like magnetic locks, electrical strikes make perfect companions for switches. Among the advantages of the electric strike are the sheer strength of the strike itself, the capacity for remote lock operation, the resistance to every traditional lock picking method, and the potential for compatibility with key cards, authentication codes, finger print scanning, and other new, modern keying mechanisms.

Electric strikes can operate in one of two modes: fail secure or fail safe. When in the fail secure mode, if the lock's current is cut, the door will remain in a locked position, providing security against even the most ambitious burglars. The fail secure mode will also save energy and money because current is only used when the door is being operated. With the fail safe mode, the lock will be open if the current to the door is cut. This setting is ideal for fire doors, primary exit doors, and other doors where safety and egress are of paramount importance in case of emergencies such as fires and blackouts where the current might be cut out unintentionally.

As is the case for mortise boxes, the entire locking mechanism is self contained within an electric strike, which means that once the door is prepared for the unit, the installation is as simple as just putting a single mechanism into the door and attaching it. After that it's just a matter of wiring up whatever switch or other operating mechanism you intend to use. Our electric strikes have enough holding force to withstand anything an intruder might throw at them, and they have life cycles that will almost surely outlast the door itself. As illustrated below, our inventory of electric strikes is extremely vast and will suit all tastes and needs. Furthermore, we have electric strikes made from a wide variety of materials. They also come in many different sizes, so that if your door has already been prepared or if you are looking for a replacement that fits your door, we will be sure to have an electric strike that will fit.
