Padlocks
Versatile and dependable, a padlock provides a convenient security solution for a wide variety of situations. All of the models we carry are small but impermeable. Because of their small size, this type of lock can be easily be carried with you to be used as needed.
The two main parts of the padlock are the shackle--the bar or arced piece of metal that hooks into a lock or any other object that you like to secure--and the locking mechanism, the body of the padlock that keeps the shackle in place until it is released by either a key or a combination. Shackles with higher clearance will be able to attach to larger objects and expand the already vast range of the devices many applications.
There are two main methods intruders are known to employ in an attempt to defeat padlocks. The first is method attacking the lock directly with a drill, a crowbar, clippers, or some other burglary tool, in an effort to compromise the locks integrity by use of force. The best way to defend against this sort of attack is to choose a padlock made of a material that is rugged enough to withstand the attack. Both the shackle and the locking mechanism of our products are made from hardened steel and hardened boron alloy and will not back down from even a prolonged assault. Because padlocks are a portable and versatile lock, they will often be used outdoors. It is therefore also important that the lock be weather and corrosion proof to insure that the lock will not become susceptible force over time if it's exposed to the elements.
The second security concern with padlocks is the lock itself, which is potentially susceptible to picking and access via malicious key duplication. To prevent picking, the lock and the lock cylinder must be pick resistant. A padlock that is not pick resistant is not recommended for securing valuable items or areas containing anything of importance. The only way to insure against unwanted key duplication is by buying one of the locks that uses MUL-T-LOCK keys.
