Electrical Switches
Electrical switches are an affordable and attractive means of easily opening doors in commercial and industrial buildings. Switches operate instantaneously, and they are wonderful companions for Electric strikes and magnetic locks. Switches are actually simple electronic devices that engage or disengage (depending on the type of lock they are connected to) the current to going to any type of electric lock. The two primary considerations for a switch are its ease of use and legibility. All of our switches are the large button type in order to insure that they will be readily recognizable as the means of opening the door. All of our switches are large enough that they can easily be used by individuals whose handicap may make it difficult for them to operate smaller devices. In addition to their large size, all of our strikes are colorful enough to make them highly visible and unmistakable. High visibility has many advantages, particular during a fire when a panicked situation will demand that a switch be readily identifiable.
Legibility is also a matter of concern for switches. Our switches are either inscribed with the word EXIT or with the internationally recognized handicapped symbol. Our words and symbols are presented boldly and in a clearly legible fashion. Many of our buttons, however, can be customized if you would prefer them without the symbol or if you would like them to read in French or Spanish. As mentioned pushbutton switches operate automatically, but a further possible switch customization is the employment of a time delay between the switches engagement and the door opening.
Electrical switches are often used outdoors as the operating mechanisms for a building's primary entrance. Therefore, they must stand up to exposure to the elements as well as to the possibility of vandalism. This is why all of the switches we offer are made to be as strong and as vandal- and weather-proof as possible. The products listed below also come complete with their own hardware.
